Traffic stop leads to stolen handgun

On Saturday, June 18, 2023, at 11:30 pm Deputies were patrolling the area of Howard Street and Merry Street Jennings.
While patrolling, deputies observed an older white Chevrolet truck traveling Northbound on Merry Street failed to stop at the intersection of Merry Street and Howard Street. The vehicle was stopped on West Plaquemine Street.
During the stop, deputies obtained a consent to search the vehicle. The search revealed a stolen handgun.
The driver, identified as Eugene Ivory,57, of 619 5th Street, Jennings was arrested and booked into the parish jail for illegal possession of a stolen firearm and failure to stop at stop sign.
