Narcotics arrest

Tuesday March 26, Deputies stopped a Chevrolet Cavalier for equipment violation on Langley road in Elton around 11:00 pm.
When deputies approached the driver an odor of marijuana was detected. The driver admitted to having marijuana and a weapon under the seat.
The driver was removed from the car and a consent to search was obtained. The search revealed a Glock .45 caliber semi-auto pistol, white bag containing marijuana and a plastic bag containing a pill believed to be ecstasy.
Vernon Lynn Gailes, 23, of 24626 High School street, Plaquemine, LA was arrested and booked into the parish jail on possession of firearm with CDS, possession of marijuana and possession of CDS I ecstasy. Gailes is held in the parish jail with no bond.
