02/24/2014

On Saturday, February 22, 2014, Detective Christopher LaFleur was working a traffic detail on Interstate 10 in Jefferson Davis Parish.  LaFleur observed a small white vehicle traveling east bound speeding 82 miles per hour in a 70 mph zone on I-10 east bound near milepost 63.

Upon making contact with the driver Lafleur could smell a odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the interior of the vehicle. Lafleur asked the driver for his drivers license, registration, and proof of insurance.  The driver identified himself as David Bruce McMann, 63, of 19800 SW 180 avenue lot#236, Miami, Florida. McMann was unable to produce a drivers license.  Dispatch advised McMann's license was expired.
LaFleur asked McMann for permission to search his vehicle. McMann gave verbal and signed the consent form. During the search of the vehicle deputies located a 16 ounce can of Coors Light in the center console.  The can was cold and open deputies also  located a glass smoking pipe containing green vegetable matter believed to be marijuana.  Deputies then opened the center console and located a clear plastic bag containing green vegetable matter and a glass jar containing green vegetable matter all believed to be marijuana.  Between the drivers seat and center console they discovered a Ruger Semi Automatic handgun.   All contraband was seized and McMann was placed under arrest.

McMann was transported to Jefferson Davis Parish Jail where he was booked on the charges of Possession of Marijuana (40:966.c), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (40:1023), and Possession of a Firearm in the presence of CDS (14:95.E).

McMann was released due to lack of bed space in the jail.
