  A Jefferson Davis Parish Deputy observed a 2000 Ford Expedition on LA 26 traveling at a high rate of speed.  The vehicle was stopped on LA 26 and Miller Road.  Deputies noticed a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle interior while speaking with the driver. The driver, initially identified himself as Lester Roderick Ben. Deputies noticed both occupants were very nervous and did not make eye contact with officers.  Deputies requested the driver give voluntary consent to search the vehicle.  The driver refused.  A k-9 was utilized and alerted to the vehicle.  The deputies conducted a search and discovered two clear plastic bags of marijuana approximately 2 lbs.  concealed under the seat.  A loaded .40 caliber semi auto pistol and the driver's true identity was located in the center console. The driver, Curtis Lee Leblanc, Jr. 34, of 1312 9th Street, Mamou, La and the passenger, Crystal Marie Frank, 18, of 321 Rue Blond, Mamou, LA were arrested and charged with possession of CDS schedule I Marijuana with intent to distribute and illegal carrying of weapons in presence of CDS.  Leblanc was also charged with Illegal possession of stolen goods, Resisting Arrest by providing false identification, Speeding, Failure to secure Registration and Driving under Suspension.
