On Monday October 7, deputies received a complaint of a sexual assault.  The victim reported that inappropriate contact had been made on two occasions,  where the victim, a mentally handicapped male was involved in a sexual encounter with the subject.

Edgar Wayne Lavergne, 63, of 525 Calcasieu Avenue, Lake Arthur was arrested Tuesday by deputies for 2 counts 3rd degree rape.  Lavergne is held in the parish jail with no bond.
