06/22/2018

On June 21, 2018, Jeff Davis deputies were called to a residence on Highway 26, north of Jennings, Louisiana in reference to a simple burglary in progress. The complainant advised dispatchers that a white male was walking through the neighbors’ yard with a flashlight and looking through a car.

Deputies arrived on scene and discovered Christopher Joseph Fontenot, 40, of 422 Granger street, Jennings, LA standing near a red motorcycle in the yard. Fontenot was charged with Possession of stolen things, Criminal trespass and Simple burglary.  He is held in parish jail on $20,000 bond. This is Fontenot’s 6th incarceration since 2015, on drug charges and theft.

Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff Ivy Woods wants to remind citizen’s to lock their vehicles, even if they are under the carport, in the driveway of your home, or parked in the yard or field.

The parish has seen an increase in car burglaries recently and in most cases the vehicles are unlocked.  It makes an easy target for those individuals that want to take from others. Don’t be a victim. Assist law enforcement by reporting any suspicious persons seen around your neighborhood, especially if you see someone at a neighbor’s home when they are away during this vacation season.
