Tropical Storm Cindy Update

Due to Tropical Storm Cindy, all of the Parish Libraries are closed from noon today until Friday morning.

After the update this morning, we are anticipating landfall of Tropical Storm Cindy to be late Wednesday or into early Thursday. We are still anticipating sustained winds up to 50 MPH between now and tomorrow afternoon. Over the next 48-72 hours, we anticipate 3-5 inches of rain with the possibility of up to 10 inches in isolated areas if heavy bands stay in the area longer than anticipated.

Throughout this weather event there are chances of flash flooding, gusty winds, tornadoes, and above normal tides. As a precaution, the Jefferson Davis Parish Police Jury has made sandbags and sand available to residents of Jefferson Davis Parish. Self-service sandbags and sand are available in the following locations:

-Jennings Police Jury Road Yard on Airport Road
-Lake Arthur Community Center (Pick up bag first at Lake Arthur Police Department)
-Woodlawn Fire Station
-Welsh Police Jury Yard across from Welsh Community Center
-Hathaway Fire Station on Hwy 102
-Fenton Police Jury Yard on Estes Road
-Lacassine Fire Station 17155 Hwy 90
-Elton City Hall
