2014 Law Enforcement Torch Run

This year eight Deputies from the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office participated in the 2014 Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Louisiana Special Olympics.  There are pictures below showing deputies from this years Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run and years past.  Remember to click each picture to see them full-size.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office hosted the 2014 Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run today, May 22nd.  The torch run began at the Civic Center and ended at the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office on E. Broad Street, for a total distance of approximately 5 miles.

 

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is an international series of torch relays, run by law enforcement officers from agencies around the world leading up to each state or nation's Special Olympic Summer Games. The Louisiana Special Olympics Summer Games will be held this weekend, May 23-25, 2014 in Hammond at the Southeastern Louisiana University. Law enforcement officials carry the Flame of Hope across the state ending with the final leg of the Torch Run, and the lighting of the cauldron to officially open the Special Olympics Louisiana Summer Games.

The Southwest Region Torch Run is the 2nd largest run in the state made up of law enforcement officers from Calcasieu, Cameron, Beauregard and Jeff Davis Parishes.
